A Rare and Important Early Australian Cedar Twin Pedestal Sideboard by the Sydney Cabinet-maker Robert Meech (act.1843-58 ) His Trade card is affixed to the underside of the top above the left pedestal, (see entry in Australian Furniture p.91) This is the only piece of his work to be recorded to date and shows a flamboyant carved back over two pedestals with doors having oval inset panels and a central single drawer with carved decoration, An excellent 19th century original patina.
